About the Journal

Meraki: Journal of Creative Industries is a journal managed by the Faculty of Creative Industries at Surabaya University and is open as a public platform for publication covering various fields such as product design, fashion design, visual communication design, interior design, advertising, architecture, fine arts and performing arts, crafts, film and photography, culinary, music, performing arts, printing and publishing, software development and interactive games, as well as television and radio. This scope is based on the categorization carried out by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia and is broadly defined as industries that result from the utilization of creativity, skills, and individual talents to create job opportunities and improve welfare through the use of individual creative and innovative abilities. Meraki Journal of Creative Industries will be published in November and June each year.

 

Meraki: Journal of Creative Industries accepts submissions that can be derived from design processes (creation), creative analysis, research findings, conceptual ideas, studies, and theoretical applications, as well as book reviews.

To meet the publication requirements in Meraki: Journal of Creative Industries, every manuscript must fulfill at least five criteria as follows:

  1. Originality of the writing.
  2. Clear methodology used.
  3. Description of the background that demonstrates the importance of the findings.
  4. Relevance to design practices.
  5. Use of recent references (preferably within the last 5 years).

 

The following are some types of recommendations resulting from the review process:

  • Accepted manuscript.
  • Manuscript needs improvement in writing.
  • Content of the manuscript needs to be reviewed.
  • Manuscript is rejected.
